Melania Trump, born Melanija Knavs on April 26, 1970, in Novo Mesto, Yugoslavia (now Slovenia), was the first presidential spouse for whom English was not a first language.

After moving to Ljubljana for a modeling career, she went on to model in Milan and elsewhere in Europe.
