Carolina Panthers WR Diontae Johnson Nearly Pulls a Grandpa Simpson
Not-So-Grand Comeback
Carolina Panthers wideout Diontae Johnson just nearly performed his best impression of the classic Grandpa Simpson Walking In and Out meme.
Hurdling Hurdles
The sixth-year receiver made his return to practice on Tuesday after taking it easy for the past week with a hamstring injury. However, his comeback would not be without its hurdles.
During practice, Johnson suffered a mild groin sprain, forcing him to sit out Wednesday's session. Fortunately, the injury is not considered serious and Johnson is expected to be back in action soon.
On the Mend
Johnson has been on injured reserve since injuring his right hamstring. His return to practice is a positive sign that he is nearing a full recovery.
The Panthers are hopeful that Johnson will be ready to go for their Week 1 matchup against the New York Giants.
Johnson is expected to serve as the primary target for second-year quarterback Bryce Young. The former Alabama star is looking to take a step forward in his sophomore campaign, and Johnson's return will be a big boost to his development.
