Sri Lanka vs India Match Scorecard: India Thrashes Sri Lanka by 317 Runs
Sri Lanka's Batting Collapse Hands India Comprehensive Victory
In a dominant display of cricket, India thrashed Sri Lanka by a massive 317 runs in the second Test match played at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. The comprehensive victory gives India an unassailable 2-0 lead in the two-match series.
India Dominates with Bat and Ball
India's victory was set up by their dominance with both bat and ball. Batting first, India posted a mammoth 252 runs in their first innings, thanks to a gritty century from Cheteshwar Pujara. The Indian bowlers then ran through Sri Lanka's batting lineup, dismissing them for a mere 109 runs. Ravindra Jadeja was the star performer with the ball for India, claiming four wickets.
In their second innings, India extended their lead by declaring at 303/9. Sri Lanka's chase never got going, as they were bundled out for just 109 runs in their second innings as well. Axar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin shared six wickets between them to complete India's triumph.
Sri Lanka's Batting Woes Continue
Sri Lanka's batting woes continued in the second Test, as they failed to put up a competitive total in either of their innings. The lack of runs from their top order put immense pressure on the middle and lower order, and they were unable to cope with the Indian bowlers.
Angelo Mathews, Sri Lanka's most experienced batsman, once again failed to make a significant contribution, scoring just 11 runs in the first innings and 14 runs in the second. The onus will be on Mathews and the other senior batsmen to step up and deliver in the upcoming matches if Sri Lanka wants to salvage some pride.
